How the integration works
Most acquirers either ship a native Xero plugin or rely on the bank-account integration: card transactions settle to the business account, the account is connected to Xero, and Xero auto-categorises. Native plugins (Square) carry transaction-level detail; bank-account routes carry batch-level only.
Watch outs
- Native plugin sync intervals vary; daily is standard.
- Bank-account-only routes lose tip / refund granularity.
- Reconciliation rules in Xero need configuring per acquirer to handle their fee deductions correctly.
