Accessibility

MerchantHQ is used by busy UK business owners comparing card machines, EPOS systems and payment fees, often on a phone between customers. We build the site to be clear, fast and easy to use, whatever device or assistive technology you rely on.

Features to help you

  • Site search. Use the search box in the header to find any provider, terminal or fee guide, and the site index lists the whole site in one place.
  • Plain English. We explain the jargon of card payments, interchange, acquirers, PCI DSS, rolling reserves and the rest, and there is a glossary for the terms providers use.
  • Readable design. Clear type, strong contrast, generous spacing and structured headings, with no pop-ups or auto-playing media in your way.
  • Keyboard and screen readers. Pages use proper headings, labels and landmarks so they work with keyboard navigation and screen readers.
  • Your language. Key guides are available in several community languages via the language links in the footer.

Our aim

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard, and we test pages against an automated contrast gate before they go live. We are not perfect, and we keep improving the site as we find and fix issues.
